Ever since I was a little girl, I always dreamed of being a teacher. As I got older that dream carried with me into college and even into my first teaching position. After teaching in the classroom for 10 years, I later discovered a new dream of teaching teachers...or as it is called today, coaching! Well, currently I am just that; a coach for Head Start teachers! I love it; I really do, but it has opened my eyes to see a need that teachers seem to struggle articulating. I have noticed that teachers are not given the opportunity to take part in their own professional development, they are not voicing areas of weakness they exhibit because of fear, and they accept the de-valuing beliefs that have been placed upon their work.

Due to this new insight comes new goals I have set for myself as I continue to grow in the profession of Early Childhood Education!!

Professional Goal: Within the next five years, I wish to become a Director of Education for a Head Start or Pre-K program.

Dreams: It is a dream to work with a program where I get facilitate movement and change for the greater good of Early Childhood Teachers. A program that strives to create a culture that accepts change, welcomes new ideas, and strives to teach to the need and not the "ideal outcome"!

Hope: My hope is that with the achievement of my stated goal above, that teachers and educators will know their worth and realize that they are so much more than "babysitters". Teachers and educators are life-changers, and should be treated, fairly compensated, and respected as such!
