Creating Positive Social Change

Children are our future regardless if they are living with family privilege or in poverty. A report from the Children's Defense Fund reported in 2018, that seven states in the U.S., at least 1 in 4 children under the age of 6 lived in poverty ( https://www.childrensdefense.org/ ). Conscious Discipline is program that has been embraced by many to bring about this positive social change that has a emphasis on safety, connection, and problem-solving. Conscious Discipline is embraced in 47 countries and 22 languages, Conscious Discipline’s evidence-based and researched-backed social and emotional learning foundation of safety, connection and problem-solving is leading a revolution of the heart as concepts initially applied in the classroom extend to every facet of our lives (www.consciousdiscipline.com).

In addition to the positive social change that happened with Fern Creek Elementary, The Playing Field is non-profit organization that implements Conscious Discipline to bring about positive social change and the opportunity to segregate high quality education for children and families in Madison, Wisconsin. The podcast episode below gives insight on how children living in homelessness can build resiliency.
The organization that I am currently working for has started implementing Conscious Discipline. Being more than a little over a year in on the journey, I can testify to the great positive social change is has brought to our organization, but more importantly to the children and families we serve.
